My Approach

Person-centered

Many individuals with endo have been led to question themselves and their own experiences, observations and concerns. Many have not been treated as the expert on their own body and their own life. This is why a person-centered approach to therapy is so important.

You are the expert on your own experiences, nobody else. My role is to support you and help you to explore, process, make sense of, reflect, and heal.

Trauma-informed

It is not uncommon for those with endo to have experienced trauma, therefore it’s essential that any approach to therapy is trauma-informed.

Trauma-informed counselling recognises the various ways that trauma might manifest, such as anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, or dissociation.

The first priority is to build trust and safety in our therapeutic relationship. Then when you’re ready, I can support you to process any experiences of trauma, develop coping strategies and foster healing and recovery. We move at your pace and you’re in charge. Always.

Lived experience-informed

Lived experience-informed counselling is based on the idea that counsellors who have firsthand experience of living through something can offer unique insights, empathy and support to their clients.

This can help you to feel more seen and understood, and feel less of a need to explain your emotions, thoughts or challenges. This can be a game-changer for those with endo as we can often feel others just don’t get it.

Combined with my training in psychology and counselling, everything about the design of endokind draws on my own experience of living with endo.
